Morrisons
West Australian Chardonnay
Concepts 1 & 2 reference the ‘Frankland River’ which is a key Australian wine sub-region in the south of Western Australia, However the direction of Concept 3 became more appealing to Morrisons. Concept 3 won the pitch and I focused on looking into tales of Thomas Braidwood Wilson - a 1700’s Australian explorer & surgeon who became known for his love of native plants and species.
By using off-white background tones and rose gold foiling, the look began to reflect the market and create a sense of the refreshing taste synonymous with Chardonnay. The information I gathered around Braidwood Wilson and his travels is how the illustration composition developed.
The dynamic cuts contrast the traditional style and reflects his life as a surgeon.
